Space Group not only attended MIPIM 2017 in Cannes last week, but took Newcastle with them, virtually of course!
As part of a major project headed by Invest Newcastle, Space Group created an immersive experience of focal points in the city, designed to attract international businesses to the North East of England.
Invest Newcastle, a service delivered by NewcastleGateshead Initiative on behalf of Newcastle to attract and secure new investment and jobs for the region, coordinated a 25-strong delegation of high-profile, innovative North East businesses to this world-leading international property show.
The virtual reality experience allowed MIPIM delegates to walk through and explore new and upcoming development opportunities in the city including Newcastle Science Central, Stephenson Quarter and North Shore.
Space Group was commissioned to create a 360 degree, 3D experience to allow users to explore development sites as if they were actually in the buildings.
The virtual reality experience was the centre piece to the Invest Newcastle events programme which covered artificial intelligence, regeneration, sustainability and key industry insights.
The Newcastle Pavilion attracted hundreds of influential international visitors in the property market including investors, developers, hotel groups and many more.
Space Group CEO, Rob Charlton commented on his return from Cannes; “MIPIM is an amazing place to be, not only are you at one of the world’s largest property events, held on the French Rivieria, but to see the industry connected in this way and looking to the future of global construction, allows us to showcase what we have to offer in the North East of England. A region of prosperity, opportunity and delivering remarkable projects which we are proud to share with our international piers.”
“When Invest Newcastle approached us to create a virtual reality experience we knew it had to be amazing, something which truly represented our industrious city. And it worked! The feedback from MIPIM delegates was outstanding.”
Catherine Walker, Inward Investment Director at Invest Newcastle, said: “MIPIM is an unmissable opportunity to elevate Newcastle into a position of strength as a leading European city, and promote the city’s opportunities to the global property market - securing long-term economic growth for Newcastle and the wider region. Our presence at MIPIM this year demonstrated that Newcastle is open for business and has a strong working relationship between the public and private sector.
“Space Group not only created a virtual Newcastle, but a representation of a city with a strong future, buoyant with opportunity and a worthy investment choice.”
MIPIM World attracted more than 23,000 visitors from 90 different counties, over four days from Tuesday 14 March, it delivered in excess of 100 conference and seminar talks, from 350 speakers at thePalais des Festivals, Cannes in France.
